Animals in Spring

Since we are finally having some warmer weather, we should start to see some different animals that we didn't see too much of during the winter!  This week, the children have been learning about sheep, birds, chicks, frogs, etc. and they did some neat art projects to go along!

The Pre-K class learned about the life cycle of a frog and a chicken.  I love these visual art projects they did!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week, we are celebrating St. Patrick's Day!  We are keeping an eye out for any leprechauns and trying to find a lucky four leaf clover!  We sure hope you wore GREEN on Tuesday so you didn't get pinched!  Our Pre-K class was decked out in green!

Such fun art projects with four leaf clovers, leprechaun hats, and rainbows!

The children also learned about Ireland and the colors of their flag.  There was also a fun symmetry lesson with this activity as well!

There were some fun science experiments with rainbows as well!  They made an "exploding rainbow" and a "rainbow in a jar"!

I always love when the children answer questions like these!  The answers to "If I found a pot of gold..." were too cute!
Our letter of the week was "g".  Some classrooms did "g is for grasshopper" while others did "g is for goose".

Spring

Oh, we are so ready for Spring and some warmer weather!!!  This week, we are talking about how the weather will be changing, flowers, and the rain that comes in Spring!

The cold temperatures, snow, and ice have kept us off the playground so we really don't want it to rain!
We also had fun with kites this week!  The children made their own kites to see how the wind blows the streamers.
There were also some fun math activities going on!  One class made a flower garden by measuring their heights in the hallway.  They could then see who was the tallest and who was the shortest.  Another classroom, put numbered raindrops in order from 1-10.
Our Waddlers classroom had fun with a Puddle Jump!  When the teacher would hold up a number, the children had to jump on a puddle with that number.  They were so cute trying to jump from one to the next!

We also talked about the Water Cycle this week.  They made a large classroom model for the wall and then each child made their own drawing to show the Water Cycle.

For our letter of the week, "f is RAINBOW fish" of course!  Since we are talking about rainbows, even our fish had to be rainbow fish!

One of our classrooms made a beautiful rainbow to hang from the ceiling!

Dr. Seuss

We had another short week but this week was due to ICE!  Not nearly as much fun as the snow!  This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday.  It's one of our favorite weeks so we are bummed we didn't get to celebrate the whole week!  After reading Dr. Seuss books, the Pre-K class did some great activities.  They made "hats" with rhyming words for "The Cat in the Hat".  For "Ten Apples Up on Top", they colored the apples and then glued the letters in their name down in the correct order.
For a little spin on a traditional game, one classroom room played "Pin the Hat on the Cat"!
We had Wacky Wednesday and even some of our teachers got in the spirit!  There were definitely some wacky outfits and funny faces!

Our letter of the week was "e".  Some classrooms made "e is for egg" while others made "e is for elephant".

The teachers had fun with decorating their rooms and bulletin boards while in the spirit of Dr. Seuss!  Take a look at their masterpieces!
Fun with the Lorax!
The children's silhouettes from President's Day got a makeover with new hats!
The children got to show off their creativity by making the Cat a new hat!
