Earth Day

Monday was Earth Day so we spent the week talking about the ways we can take care of our Earth!  We started the week of by our oldest classes getting to plant their very own flower in our flower beds out in front of our school.  They did such a great job and were proud to show their parents which one they planted.  Let's just hope I remember to water them so that they stay alive!

One of our classes made a special snack to go along with Earth Day- DIRT CUPS!  They thought it was so funny to eat "dirt"!
For art projects this week, they did some activities to show they were going to help take care of our great planet.  They even reused broken crayons by melting them down and making them into a crayon that even looked like Earth!

Help us take care of the world around us!

Plants & Flowers

April Showers, bring May flowers!  This week we are focusing on plants and flowers.  Flowers always make beautiful masterpieces but we of course did some lessons in other subjects as well.

These were made using the bottom of a coke bottle!

Our number of the week is 5 so one class used 5 petals to make their flower!

The cooking project even involved flowers!  They made fruit flowers using strawberries and bananas!

Bugs & Insects

Well, we've gone BUGGY around here!  The classrooms are "buzzing" with awesome activities this week!  They've done art projects with butterflies, ladybugs, spiders, etc.

Our cooking project was called "Ladybug Crackers".  The children had fun making their snack look like a ladybug!  Our 3 year old class also made Bug Juice one day!
Of course, we always focus on a letter each week.  Our letter is "h" so they made "h is for horse".

We ended the week with the children making or bringing in bug catchers from home so that they could go on a bug hunt on the playground!

Animals in Spring

Now that we've learned all about Spring, it's time to talk about all the animals we see during this time of year!  We focused on birds and the different beaks that they have, did an art activity with ducks, and even learned a song about chicks.  The children hopped around like frogs and did an math lesson to see how far a frog can jump.  Spring Animals are cute and lots of fun!
Since our number of the week was 3,
the children had to count out 3 feathers and glue them on.
