Dental Week

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!  We are learning how to take great care of our teeth this week!  We made a giant mouth with pretty white teeth and even a large toothbrush!
One class did a neat science experiment where they soaked boiled eggs in coffee and then tried to scrub them clean with toothbrushes.  They had so much fun trying to clean them back to bright white!
We also had fun with our letter and color of the week!  We made "b is for butterfly" and did some fun activities with purple!  They mixed red and blue paint together to make purple!
Be sure to take care of your teeth and SMILE!  :)

President's Day

Happy President's Day!  We are learning about several President's this week and doing some fun activities!
While talking about Abraham Lincoln, the children made their own Lincoln Log Cabins and played a fun game called "Lincoln Toss".  The children made a chart showing if the coin landed on heads or tails.
We learned the story of George Washington and the cherry tree and did a fun art project to go along with it!
We have finally made it ALL the way through the alphabet learning the uppercase letters and it's now time to focus on our lowercase letters!  We are starting off with the letter a and a cute apple craft!
We hope you enjoyed your long weekend!

The Olympics, Valentine's Day and Friendship

Are you enjoying watching and talking about the Olympics as much as we are?  Even with all the other important things going on in February we are still making sure to find time to talk about and do some fun art projects with the Olympics.  Go Team USA!
Last week, we talked about being nice to our friends and family and showing them that we love them!  We did several activities throughout the week to get us ready for our Valentine's Day Party on Friday.
Practicing tracing hearts!
Making a Valentine's bracelet!
The children made these for their parents!  How sweet!
On Friday, we had our Valentine's Day Party and the children were so excited!  Here's a peek into the classrooms during the party!

For our cooking project this week, the children made "Zebra Cakes" for the letter of the week!
Happy Valentine's Day!  We sure do love all our little guys!

Groundhog's Day and Black History Month Kick Off!

February is such a busy month and we have so much to squeeze in!  Several weeks during this month, we will be talking about two maybe even three topics per week so hang in there with us!
We started out this week talking about Groundhog's Day since it was this last Sunday.  We are SO sad that the Groundhog saw his shadow because you know what that means- 6 more weeks of winter.  YUK!
The Older 1's made Groundhog Cupcakes!
They went on a hunt around the school for Groundhogs!
This class made Groundhog Puppets that would pop up out of their "hole"!
The rest of the week was spent kicking off Black History Month by talking about important African Americans and their neat inventions and contributions.  Garrett Morgan invented the Traffic Light to help keep us all safe while driving!  Some classrooms did an art project and then our cooking project for the week involved making our own traffic lights!
The children also made Freedom Quilts and learned about Rosa Parks, the Underground Railroad, and George Washington Carver's work with peanuts.
We are looking forward to learning much more about these significant African Americans over the next several weeks!
