Merry Christmas!

Christmas is one of our most favorite times of the year at Sunflower Station!  So much so that we've decided to celebrate for a full week already and our short week this week!  We've had so much fun talking about reindeer, Santa, Christmas trees, snowmen, etc.!  Take a look at some of the adorable art projects that have taken place over the last several days!
Each child's handprint was turned into a reindeer to pull Santa's sleigh!
Great Math activities with Christmas Trees!
If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will!
One classroom made Snow Slime to enjoy for a Science and Sensory project!
We had so much fun at our Christmas Program and Party!  Each classroom did a Christmas Program for their parents!
Pre-K spelled out CHRISTMAS as each child had a special part. Then they sang several Christmas carols.
The 2 year olds did a play with songs to act out the Nativity Scene!
The 3 Year Olds sang a few carols and then did a dance they had learned!
Our 1 year olds were a little shy  but some of them belted out "Jingle Bells"!
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy time with family and friends!  Merry Christmas!

Christmas Around the World

This week we traveled around the world to celebrate Christmas!  The children had so much fun learning about different traditions in other parts of the world.  Unfortunately, I did not get around to take many pictures this week!  However, we learned how to say Merry Christmas in different languages, sang Christmas carols around a Christmas tree, and talked about how some children set out their shoes for a special treat!  Some classrooms made Pinatas to celebrate like they do in Mexico and others made Star Lanterns to decorate like they do in the Philippines!

For our cooking project, the children made Gingerbread Men like they enjoy in Germany!  They smelled and tasted delicious!  The children were too funny talking about biting his arm, leg, and head off!

Our letter of the week was "S".  Some classrooms made snakes but others had fun with "S is for Santa"!

It was such a fun week and I sure wish I had taken more pictures!  We enjoyed trying out different traditions but I think we all decided we like how we celebrate Christmas the best!

Winter

As it's getting colder outside, it's time to talk about Winter!  In Huntsville, it is a lot of peoples least favorite season but there sure are some fun activities we can do!  One classroom did a neat math activity that they worked on a little bit for several days.  They did a snowman glyph were they decorated their snowman based on how they answered certain questions.  First, they painted their snowman, then glued on the accessories, and lastly used chalk to add snow!  Once everyone made their snowman, they talked about how many children answered the questions with the same answers.  Such a fun and educational activity!

As you might guess, we had snowflakes and snowmen all over the place this week!  Take a look at some of the cute art projects the children did!

Since it isn't snowing outside, this classroom made their own snow!  The children had such a great time playing in the snow and even making snow angels!

For the cooking project, the children made Snowmen from biscuits, pretzels, and raisins!
We are getting antsy for Christmas here at Sunflower Station!  Therefore, R has to be for Rudolph!
We hope you are ready for winter!  Stay warm!
