Stop, Drop, and Roll!!!

We are learning all about Fire Safety this week!  The children have been practicing "Stop, Drop, and Roll", pretending to call 9-1-1 for an emergency, and talking about a meeting spot at our school and their house.
The 3's made a pretend fire in their kitchen and all pretended to be firefighters!
We're all part of Sunflower Station Fire Department!
We also talked about "Sparky" the fire dog.  Since our number was 5 this week, they put 5 spots on their dogs!
At the end of the week, we had a special treat as one of our dad's brought his Fire Engine and some fellow Firefighters!  They talked to the children first about fire safety and even put on all the gear so that the children wouldn't be afraid and know who to yell for in the case of an emergency.  Then, we headed out to the fire truck and the kiddos even got to sit in the seats!

The Firefighters also left the children goody bags and hats!  Aren't these two of the cutest Firefighters you've ever seen?!

A HUGE thank you to one of our dads and the other firefighters that joined him.  It was such a fun experience for everyone and truly made our week!

Ay, Ay Matey!

Ahoy!  We are setting sail this week and having some fun pretending to be pirates!  The children are also learning about boats, walking the plank, and trying out some pirate talk.
Such cute boats!

The 2 year olds made pirates that even had earrings!
This class created an art project by putting together pieces of the puzzle to show "Ahoy Matey!"
I love this ship that the 2 year olds created complete with every child in their room turned into a pirate!
Some of the children dressed up like a pirate at the end of the week.  Is this not one of the cutest pirates you've ever seen?!
Cock-a-doodle-doo, "r is for rooster" this week!

Donuts with Dad

What a great turnout we had for "Donuts with Dad"!  We love sharing this special time with all the Dads and seeing the excitement on the kiddos faces to have their Dad with them at school.  The children worked all week on creating special gifts to give to their dads on Friday.  Here's a peek at our fun time celebrating:

Some of the precious gifts the children made to give their Dads!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!  We hope you have a very special day!

Wild, Wild West

Howdy!  We're headed WAY out West this week!  The children are learning about cowboys, horses, cacti, and more!  It's always fun to pretend to be a Cowboy!
The 3 year olds made their own cowboys with hair that actually made them look just like themselves!
Adorable horse that stands on it's own!
The 2 year old classroom created a Wild Wild West scene in their room.

Several of the classrooms made Cowboy vests to really look the part!

Our week isn't complete without talking about our letter of the week- "q"!  The children made "q is for queen" and it was so cute to see all the different variations!

A Camping We Will Go!

Heigh ho, Heigh ho, a camping we will go!  The children have had so much fun this week using their imagination and pretending to be out in the woods camping!  We have played in tents, made S'Mores, and even learned about shadows while playing with flashlights!
The children also did some fun artwork this week as they made their own campfires, created a camping scene, and made fireflies.
Of course, when we are out camping in the woods, we may see some animals!  The Pre-K class made a list of some of the animals they might see and then voted on their favorite one.
Our letter of the week is "p" so the children made "p is for parrot"!  The 3 year old class also had some fun exploring peas and talking about "3 peas in a pod"!
