Welcome to the Circus!

Some days definitely feel like a circus at the preschool but this week, we actually pretended to be at the circus!  We had a lot of fun doing several different activities with cotton candy and balloons!  Math, science, and art are easy when we have fun things to work with!
Doing a science experiment with balloons!
They loved the air blowing on them!
Of course, it isn't the circus without the CLOWNS!!
For our cooking project this week, we made Yogurt Pops, to reinforce our letter of the week "y"!  They looked delicious and were a nice treat to cool us down in the heat of the summer!

Aloha! Time for a Luau!

We're off to the islands this week- at least we can pretend!  This week was spent preparing for our Luau on Friday! The children made hula skirts and leis to look the part!

We also talked about things in Hawaii like the delicious fruits and even Volcanoes!  The children got to hold different fruits and talk about their differences and similarities.

They also erupted their own volcano in their room.  Needless to say, this was quite a hit!
Even our teachers were excited about our Luau!
Our letter of the week was "x".  This is such a cute xylophone!

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Who doesn't love ice cream?!  In fact, we love it so much here that we spent an entire week talking about it!  :) The children made their own ice cream cones that looked good enough to eat!
But then, they really did make their very own ice cream in a Ziploc bag!  It must have been pretty good because they all wanted more!
The Pre-K class made a graph showing their favorite ice cream flavors.  It was a neat math activity as they then had to decide which flavor had the most votes and which had the least.  They also did a science activity to observe if ice cream would melt faster in a plastic container or a glass container.
Our letter of the week was "w" so since we are in the middle of the summer, we had to make some watermelon!
Sunday, July 15th (the 3rd Sunday of July) is National Ice Cream Day!  Did you eat some to celebrate?!  If not, go grab some now!!  :)

3 Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue!

Happy 4th of July!  We hope you had a wonderful celebration as we did here at the school!  This week was full of making American flags, fireworks, sparklers, noise makers, etc.

All of this hard work on our arts and crafts was displayed beautifully at our School Parade!

We also had a Water Play Day this week!  The kids had so much fun playing in the baby pools and sprinklers!

Some classes even choose to enjoy lunch out on the playground as a little picnic!
We finished off the week with an All-American treat of Mini Apple Pies!  Delicious!
I think we celebrated in all the right ways, don't you?!

Stop, Drop, and Roll!

We spent this week talking about Fire Safety.  We learned about who to call if there is a fire, how to stop, drop, and roll, and how to prevent fires from happening in the first place.
Practicing calling 911!
They made their own matches to talk about
how important it is to not play with real ones.
The children made their very own fire trucks and water hoses too!

To finish up the week, we had very special visitors!  One day, we had one of the dad's come and show us all the special tools he carries with him to help people who have been around a fire.  He even let some of the children try out some of the different items.

Another day, we had another dad bring a fire truck by and the children got to walk through the fire truck and even sit in the seats.  We then got to visit with Sparky for a little bit!
Of course for our cooking project, we made some yummy Fire Trucks!
WOW!  What a fun week filled with so many fun activities!
