Insects & Bugs

We're going BUGGY at Sunflower Station Preschool!  This week is all about Insects & Bugs!  We had some really cute and unique art projects going on including bugs made from fingerprints, egg cartons, and more!

Pre-K had some fun painting with a fly swatter!  The finished product was so neat with all the different colors showing!

Even insects create some great Math activities.  While talking about butterflies, we can learn about symmetry!  Several classrooms also made a graph to show their favorite insects.
To practice their sight words for the week, Pre-K made a chart showing what insects "are", "can", and "have".  We also worked on spelling our names by making caterpillars!
For a fun, movement activity, one classroom threw bugs (cotton balls) into a sticky spider's web!
At the end of the week, the 2 year old classroom had a Buggy Parade using the bug headbands they made during the week.

We made Ladybug Crackers for our Cooking Project.  They were so cute and the children really enjoyed them!
We can't ever forget our letter of the week!  The children made "j is for jellyfish".

The teachers decorated their bulletin boards to go along with our theme!  Aren't these so cute?!

Happy Easter!

Wow!!  We are having too much fun this week getting ready for Easter!  The children have had a blast and I think I went on picture overload!  :)  We've been talking about sheep, chicks, and bunny rabbits this week and of course have some fun art projects to go along with it!  The children got to use some fun techniques too like painting with a FORK, sponge painting, and marble painting!

They also did an "Egg-celent" job with decorating eggs!  Once again, these were done in really fun ways including using Shaving Cream!

It wouldn't be Easter week without talking about why we celebrate Easter.  Several classrooms did activities with crosses to serve as our reminder.  One classroom did a color matching activity while others did dot painting!

We also dyed Easter eggs, played Pin the Head on the Bunny, and did an Egg Roll!

Jellybeans make great math manipulatives!  The children sorted jellybeans by color and our Pre-K class made a graph to show which color they had the most of in their bag of jellybeans.  I'm pretty sure a few were tasted as well!!

Of course, we had to have an Easter Egg Hunt!  Each classroom got to hunt for eggs during their Recess time.  It was a great opportunity to talk about sharing and helping our friends that haven't found as many eggs.  The kiddos were so excited!

Even with all this fun, we can't forget our focus items like our letter of the week!  Several classrooms did "i is for inchworm" but one classroom is ready for Spring with "i is for isolated storms"!
The Waddlers painted stars, yellow and they just so happen to have 5 points!  One activity brought in our color, shape, and number of the week!  YEA!  Another class did sponge painting with stars!
At the end of a fun week, we hope you are able to do just this for Easter weekend:
Enjoy time "Chillin with your PEEPS" and being thankful that we serve a Risen Savior!  HAPPY EASTER!!!

Animals in Spring

Since we are finally having some warmer weather, we should start to see some different animals that we didn't see too much of during the winter!  This week, the children have been learning about sheep, birds, chicks, frogs, etc. and they did some neat art projects to go along!

The Pre-K class learned about the life cycle of a frog and a chicken.  I love these visual art projects they did!

Our letter of the week was "h".  Several rooms made "h is for horse" but one classroom also brought the spring animals in by making Hopping Frogs!

We also had some fun with the number of the week!
